![]() It dawned foggy
|
Today was a slow day. When I got up it was very foggy. Not wanting
to drive in those conditions, I took my time getting started.
Once I could see the sun attempting to break through, I hit the road. I was heading east to West Virginia. WV is supposed to have gorgeous contryside and mountains. However, just across the border there was a fatal car accident and the police had the road blocked off. For an hour. I was heading towards a state park in WV that had some nice waterfalls and such, but it was 150 miles from the border. Now that I was almost two hours behind "schedule" (hah, like I have one), I was thinking that maybe I'd just drive through the winding roads on my way up to Ohio, and head to the track tonight. So that's what I did. In Charleston, I turned north and headed towards the Ohio border. Other than stopping at a truck wash and having the RV washed (no more bugs!!), I did nothing other than eat and drive to the track. I arrived at Mid-Ohio at about 6:30, got a camping pass and found a nice wooded spot just at the exit of turn 8. I've never been to the Runoffs before, but driving around the paddock made me realize that it's going to be very hard to find the people I know here. I called Ren and Shauna, but their cell phones didn't seem to work here (or at least, they weren't turned on), and I couldn't find anyone else I knew either. There are so many people here it's scary. Much larger than the Solo II Nationals. So, I gave up, figured I'd have better luck tomorrow, and headed into town to try to find a grocery store. I failed ... so I still need to do that tomorrow at some point. But I did have dinner, and headed back to the track. It's supposed to be down around freezing tonight, so we'll see how warm I stay ... |
